Most of our tours include meals as standard. Please check the specific tour you are interested in for details on which meals (if any) are excluded.
Across the majority of our tours, accommodation and meals are already catered for but you will likely need additional funds for covering your drinks tab!
We require a 25% deposit upfront to secure your tour with the rest payable a minimum of 60 days prior.
The maximum number of people we accept on a tour is limited to 8.
In bespoke circumstances we have the capacity to accept more and can discuss this on a case by case basis. For any bespoke tours please email tours@radventure.org.
Scotland is serviced by airports up and down the country. The major of these are Edinburgh and Glasgow. We can arrange transfer from either for an additional cost outlined in the extra section when you book your tour.
Alternatively, you can take yourself and your bike by rail or bus to our tour starting points.
Trips are graded in the following formats:
Green - Open to any and family friendly. Must be able to ride a bike unaided for at least 30 minutes.
Blue - Previous experience riding is essential but all features have escape lines. Recommended that riders have the stamina to ride for at least half a day without becoming fatigued.
Red - Suitable for intermediate riders with sufficient technical ability and stamina. Recommended that riders can undertake a minimum of 3 days riding consecutively without being impeded by fatigue.
Black - Suitable for advanced riders with excellent technical ability. It may involve features that cannot be avoided at steeper gradients or tours that involve huge amounts of stamina. Due to the arduous nature of these tours, it is recommended that participants can sustain 7 days of high intensity riding and technicality on succession.
If you have any concerns or doubts about your ability against the above grading or simply want to find out more, please check the specific tour for details or drop us an email at tours@radventure.org.
Yes, we recommend that you get travel insurance. Due to the nature of tours, forces outside our control, and the fact that things don't always go according to plan, travel insurance mitigates any financial losses you may have as a result. In addition, it also safeguards against any potential health and illness concerns that may arise.
Our minimum age policy is anyone over 18 years can attend a tour independently. Anyone under the age of 16 can attend a tour with the permission and attendance of a responsible adult over the age of 18 alongside them.
No, we don't charge you a supplement for joining us solo. All of our tours with accommodation are built on a shared room basis and we would only charge if you required a single room which can be added as a bolt on in the extras section.
All of the tour locations will be detailed on your preferred mountain bike tour page.
Dependant on whether you are choosing a point-2-point or a location-based tour, our guides have developed the most amazing routes for you to experience like you were a local yourself!
It's beautifully simple!
While you ride, we move all of your luggage and get your hotel rooms ready in the background. This means you can come back from your excursion, grab a keycard, and refresh with your rooms ready for you!
Transfers are also a breeze. We transport you to the location with your bikes in tow and all the above luggage process is repeated in the background again at any new location we visit!
No stress here!
Yes, most accommodation options in our MTB tours are shared as standard but you can choose to have your own room as an extra upon booking your tour.
It's worth noting that in some instances a single room may not be available due to the nature of the accommodation availability on our tours and therefore we cannot guarantee this as an option so to avoid disappoint, we recommend booking the tour as early as possible for this option.
All the lead guides we work with are local to the area and have knowledge of every line and hillside so you're in safe hands!
Each lead guide will be supported by another experienced guide who may not be local to the area, but are experts in their own right and will provide you with an unrivalled experience on these trails due to their own originality. If you've ridden with us on another tour, you may even see a friendly face in this role as we like to rotate our guides across several locations where we can.
We recommend you bring a spare tube and a spare hanger for your specific bike make and model if you have one.
Despite this, we will provide some spares to get your bike going again such as the most regular of issues: tube replacements.
Anything that involves more advanced repair, we will aim to get sorted for you for additional cost dependant on availability of our partner mechanics. If the bike cannot be repaired, we will arrange a hire for you at additional cost.
Yes, bikes can be provided and are available for hire across all of our tours.
Most people like to bring their own bike however so we don't include the hire price in the standard tour price however you can add this as an extra when booking your tour.
We don't normally provide helmets as we encourage you to bring your own however if you require one, please get in touch and we can arrange to source a helmet for you prior to your arrival.
If you're helmet is damaged on a tour we will source a replacement for you so you can continue on!
You should bring the following:
A Helmet
Riding Protection such as kneepads, gloves, armour if applicable (we always recommend protection with kneepads at a minimum for MTB tours).
Riding Gear - clothes and suitable shoes for riding in - all of your favourite riding kit essentially!
Downtime clothes and any personal items you need for a trip away
Well, you bring whatever you need and package it however you like in as many bags as you have. We will cater for the lot and transfer them to your hotel rooms for you.
